Homemade Eggnog Bread

Homemade Eggnog Bread Homemade eggnog bread is one of many wonderful homemade gifts to make and share during the holidays. Homemade food gifts are always welcome, always 'fit' and are never returned! Bake several loaves of this wonderful eggnog bread so you can have some to share and some for your table.

Basic Eggnog Bread Recipe:

Ingredients:

3 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 beaten egg
1 3/4 c. eggnog (purchased or homemade eggnog)
1/2 c. cooking oil
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. golden raisins

Glaze:

1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 or 3 tsp. egg nog

Directions:

Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Combine egg, eggnog and oil and add to dry ingredients. Stir in the nuts and raisins.

Turn bread mixture into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 to 70 minutes.

Test for doneness and remove from oven. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then remove bread from pan. Cool on wire rack.

Before serving, stir together the powdered sugar and enough eggnog to to make a thin "frosting" consistency. Drizzle glaze over bread. Slice and serve.

Homemade Eggnog Cherry Nut Bread

Inredients:

2 1/2 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 beaten egg
1 1/4 c. homemade eggnog or purchased eggnog
1/2 c. maraschino cherries
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/3 c. cooking oil
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Directions:

Combine all ingredients...mix well. Place eggnog bread batter in an oiled loaf pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.
