I have an amazing Mom; your mother may be amazing as well. What makes a mom so special is often the joy of motherhood she has discovered.

• She has a good reputation and helps to create a good reputation for her family.
• She cares for her family and wants to make sure that their needs are met.
• She makes time to do things for, and with, her family.
• She is a capable and confident woman.
• She loves her children and understands when to offer praise or discipline
• She has good business sense and knows how to earn and invest her own money.
• She is as physically strong and healthy as is within her power to be.
• She has an inner strength that gives her confidence and peace.
• She is a caring person who helps those who are less fortunate or in need.
• She is a wise woman who knows how to offer encouragement or to keep silent when appropriate.
• She is a woman of faith.

This list of attributes of amazing women closely resembles the "model woman" as described in an ancient poem in the book of Proverbs. Though penned in another culture and another time, this is a tribute to motherhood and womanhood that transcends time and place. The focus of this portrait of the Proverbs 31 woman is her relationship with God and commitment to the people in her life.

It's easy to question whether motherhood is only about giving. We guide, love, nurture and support our family and sometimes don't feel appreciated in return.

Being in a relationship with children, spouse, friend or relative has both challenges and rewards. Each of these meaningful connections in our life can stretch us and also fulfill us. Giving of yourself to another most often creates love and appreciation that gives back in return. Difficult situations are often the "school of wisdom" and of strength.

The joy of motherhood does not depend on specific abilities or marital status. All moms share some of the same challenges and can benefit from some tips for moms that apply to a variety of situations.

The joys of motherhood are often only equaled by the challenges of motherhood. We may never know what becoming a mother required of our own moms and our children only know some of what we experienced in raising them.

Precious Moments A Love Like No Other is a great depiction of the joys of motherhood.

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.
