My own mother is now 92 years old and still healthy and active. She lives in her own apartment, does her own housework and cooking, rakes leaves and even shovels snow in winter. She truly does amaze all of her family.My amazing mom raised five of us. She was herself one of eight children who grew up on a small Minnesota farm during the depression. Her life as a child was difficult and her life, as the wife of a pastor, was also not easy. Dad pastored a series of very small churches in Minnesota and North Dakota when we were young. His salaries were tiny yet my mother managed to feed and clothe us with the skills learned in her own mother's house. She could take one of Dad's worn out suits and, without a pattern, make a child's suit for one of my little brothers. Most of our food did not come from a grocery store. Mom's vegetable garden, the fish we caught in Minnesota lakes and fresh milk from a local farm were the basic ingredients for her creative and delicious recipes. My amazing mom continues to surprise us. In her eighties she took up a sketch pad and now has many portfolios of beautiful drawings. She loves to read and, at the request of her children, has written a memoir. We gave her a gift of a memory journal  to help her get started.What would you like to share about an amazing mom that you know? It could be your own mother or another mom who you admire.
