Happy Thanksgiving!

Just a quick note to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!

As usual, many members of our family and, as well, some dear friends will gather Thursday at our home for Thanksgiving dinner. I have been thinking a lot about Thanksgiving as it really is my favorite holiday. Rather than a holiday focused on lavish decorations and expensive gift-giving, it is a heart-warming celebration of love, friendship and “the ties that bind.”

I have added some pages to the Advice From Mom website about Thanksgiving Traditions. You will learn about early Thanksgiving celebrations and find links to Thanksgiving craft ideas as well as poems, quotes and table prayers for Thanksgiving.

In recent days, I have also been posting some of my favorite Thanksgiving dinner recipes.

Even while we celebrate, we are all concerned about the economic situation. All of us are tightening our budgets and changing our spending habits to cope with the new reality. Many of the newer pages on the Advice From Mom site deal with frugal living. I will continue to add to this topic so check back frequently.

Difficult times often draw people together to share what they have. I have created a Frugal Living Ideas Forum for my readers to share their stories and tips.

One of my favorite online resources for frugal living ideas, tips, recipes and help with coping with tight finances is the Living On A Dime site. The books offered are available for instant download and are a real bargain. The tiny cost will save you many times over.
